Jerusalem Lutheran Nursery School & Daycare
The objective of our program is to assist parents in the nurturing of their children by providing a safe, stimulating, happy environment in which each child may grow to his/her full potential.
We offer a wide variety of activities for physical, cognitive, affective, and social development. Emphasis is on developing trusts in caregivers, building confidence, adjusting to new experiences, sharing, and having a positive first encounter with an educational setting.
Recently, Mrs. Josephine Malatesta departed Jerusalem Lutheran Nursery School and Day Care to begin her retirement. After 28 years of faithful service to our school, the board of directors, staff, parents, children, and alumni wanted to send Mrs. Josephine off in grand fashion First, an afternoon reception was held in the social hall.
Well-wishers had the opportunity to reminisce with Josephine and share some special memories of her. A beautiful custom cake along with pretzels and punch provided the refreshments for the occasion. In addition, lovely decorations made by Tanya German, Toddler teacher, added some glitz and flair to the room. Next, a dinner was held at Woodside Lodge in Josephine’s honor. Present board members and staff along with former board members and staff gathered to show their appreciation for Josephine’s hard work and devotion to JLNS & DC.
Gifts from the staff as well as the board of directors were presented to Josephine. Finally, Josephine, along with Judy Bubeck and Linda Funk, our two other teachers who are retiring, were featured on a segment called Kelly’s Classroom on Fox 29 News. Reporter Bob Kelly visited our school to interview the three retiring teachers on live television. It was a thrilling day for the staff and children. Special thanks to staff member, Pam Ley for arranging the visit If you missed the broadcast, you can watch it on Bob Kelly’s facebook page.
We wish Mrs Josephine the very best and on her retirement!
